CSA Statement of Values and Ethics
The Cultural Studies Association provides a venue for academics, activists, and artists working in the field of cultural studies to share their work. As a body of scholars and educators in the field of Cultural Studies, the CSA holds every member to the highest ethical standards in deliverance of the mission of the organization. To be specific, we promote freedom of speech and expression and advocate for cultural diversity and respect. To carry out our mission, the CSA promotes equity and maximizes access and inclusion. The CSA fosters integrity as well as cultural sensibility and social justice. It rejects all forms of discrimination and prejudice towards under-represented groups and provides a space for their work to flourish. In doing so, we also protect all of our practitioners of all ranks and professions from discrimination with regard to class difference, race, ethnicity, citizenship, sexuality, or embodiment. As committed to the larger academic community, the CSA upholds the highest standards for academic freedom, scholarly integrity, and professional conduct as articulated in the AAUP’s Statement on Professional Ethics. Violations of the association’s values are covered by our grievance procedure.
