Call for Papers

The Media Interventions Division of the Cultural Studies Association would like to invite submissions for the 11th Annual Meeting of the Cultural Studies Association (U.S.), to be held at Columbia College Chicago, Chicago, IL May 23-26, 2013.

The Media Interventions Division provides an interdisciplinary forum for scholarship and activism related to alternative, citizens', community, and DIY media. The Division promotes practice and theoretical development in the realm of interventionist media form, content, and production. In addition, the Division welcomes practitioner perspectives on the intersection between cultural studies, political economy, and prefigurative media politics.

Media Interventions invites proposals for projects, practices, performances, and presentations engaged in artistic research, practical research, tactical media or any other interventionist media forms and practices. The field of content is open, and this Division is specifically interested in offering a venue for the demonstration of experimental knowledge production, method, pedagogy, and activism through creative-critical media-making. Proposals might include but are not limited to work in video, sound, animation, games, social media, web-based interaction, digital imaging, and mediated performance.

Proposals to this Division need to be submitted by February 7, 2013, and should include the following:
